Tristeza Ordex-Ramirez is a student veteran at Texas Wesleyan University. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps and did two combat tours to Iraq and Afghanistan. She retired in September 2014. Ordex-Ramirez is working on her Bachelor's in Political Science with a pre-Law emphasis and minoring in English with a Writing emphasis; she will graduate with honors in spring 2018. She co-founded the Veteran Student Organization (VSO) at TCC south campus and served as the president From October 2015-August 2016. In spring 2016 she was awarded the Veteran of the Year award at TCC for her work with the veteran community. Once she transferred to TxWes, she worked with a fellow veteran to restart the Student Veterans Organization of which she has been the president since June 2016. In the spring of 2017, she was selected to be a Hatton Sumners Scholar and a member and chair in the Mortar Board national honor society. She has volunteered with numerous Fort Worth organization such as the Tarrant County Young Marines, United Fort Worth, and the Jewish War Veterans. She most recently completed her internship with the office of Representative Ramon Romero where she assisted district 90 constituents and worked with Representative Romero's team help the community. Now, she serves as the Deputy District Director for District-90. Ordex-Ramirez's passions are to bring awareness to veterans issues and to educate the minority community on voting and constitutional rights. She lives by the leadership traits, “Know yourself, and seek self-improvement; seek responsibility and take responsibility for your actions.” She is the wife of an active duty Marine and the mother to an 12 year old young man.
