Rice served as national security advisor to President Barack Obama from 2013 to 2017. Previously, she served as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. From 2002-2009, Rice was a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, specializing in foreign policy, transnational security threats and global development. She also served as assistant secretary of state for African affairs under President Bill Clinton.
